This tree is one of the 150 trees initially included in the arboretum to coincide with the campus's 150th anniversary celebration.

Mature Height and Width:
60-76 feet by 40-60 feet, can reach 120 feet high

Additional Notes:
Sugar maple is the most influential species in defining southern Illinois fall colors, which usually peak during the third week of October.  Every year this tree lights up its surroundings with bright yellow leaves and provides a welcome distraction from fall mid-term exams.
