This tree is one of the 150 trees initially included in the arboretum to coincide with the campus's 150th anniversary celebration.

Additional Notes:
Kousa dogwood has been introduced as a landscaping tree from its native East Asia.  This species displays abundant green flowers after the native flowering dogwood is finished for the season.  Kousa dogwood fruits can be processed to impart a tropical flavor to pies and jellies.
