This tree is one of the 150 trees initially included in the arboretum to coincide with the campus's 150th anniversary celebration.

Additional Notes:
A variety of our native redbud, Oklahoma redbud stands out relative to the locally-native species by having leathery leaves, tolerance of drought, and abundant purple-red flowers that extend farther down the tree.
