This tree is one of the 150 trees initially included in the arboretum to coincide with the campus's 150th anniversary celebration.

Additional Notes:
A variety of our native redbud, Oklahoma redbud stands out relative to our local species by having leathery leaves, good tolerance of drought and a particularly showy flower display that extends up and down the tree.
