North and South America, the Himalayas, and East Asia

Mature Height and Width:
15-20 feet by 10-15 feet

Additional Notes:
A hybrid created by crossing the native cucumber magnolia and a species native to China, butterfly magnolia is widely planted for landscaping because of its persistent and fragrant yellow flowers, versatility to many growing conditions, and compact form.
