This tree is one of the 150 trees initially included in the arboretum to coincide with the campus's 150th anniversary celebration.

Additional Notes:
American landscapers love the exotic looking feathery, silver-blue foliage.  In its native Japan, this species can grow to a very large size and has been used as a building material for palaces, temples, shrines, baths, and coffins.
