This tree is one of the 150 trees initially included in the arboretum to coincide with the campus's 150th anniversary celebration.

China, Japan, Korea and India

Mature Height and Width:
15-25 feet by 15-25 feet

Additional Notes:
One of the famed Japanese cherry species responsible for many cultivars planted world-wide, including the Kanzan variety that is widely represented among the cherry trees planted in Washington D.C.  Once the blooms are gone, Japanese flowing cherry is also prized for its reddish to bronze-colored smooth bark.
