Native to:
Virginia to Alabama and Missouri

Mature Height and Width:
25-30 feet by 20-25 feet

Additional Notes:
Washington hawthorn is a master of mixed messages.  White flowers and persistent red fruit attract humans and wildlife, especially birds and squirrels, alike.  However, its sharp thorns make the crowns impenetrable to the extent that some plant this species in hedges to make natural security fencing.
